“Refurbed Rims opened in January 2024 when I spotted a gap in the local market for a reliable, high quality alloy wheel refurbishment provider. I made significant investment to secure the latest equipment to establish the business and, I put myself, through the rigorous training required to turn out high quality refurbs and service a demanding market.

The Alloy Wheel Refurbishment/SMART repair process:

What is a SMART repair?

SMART repair stands for ‘Small, Medium Area Repair Technology’. It’s the process of repairing a small area of your allloy to make it look as good as new again, without refurbing the entire alloy.

We assess the wheel for trueness and any safety issues, we will then colour match your alloy before removing all the damage using special sanding techniques and fillers.

The wheel is then primed and heat treated. 2 – 3 coats of base coat are applied and heat treated again. Finally 2 – 3 coats of 2k high gloss lacquer are applied to ensure a hard-wearing durable finish and a deep shine followed by another heat treatment.
A typical refurbishment for a full set of alloys will take our experienced technicians approx 3 – 5 hours to complete a perfect SMART Repair (depending on the damage). Bringing your alloy back to it’s original state, if not better.

Please note: we do not repair buckled or cracked alloy wheels.

We are based in Brighouse near Huddersfield / Bradford / Liversedge / Heckmondwike / Wakefield / Leeds and will carry out repairs to your alloy wheels; scratches, scuffs, chips & paint defects or even a *full colour change*. In the past all cosmetic repairs and minor accident damage to vehicles were sent to a traditional bodyshop and could be there for a week or more. That sort of inconvenience is a thing of the past, with our fully equipped bodyshop, SMART repairs and refurbs will be carried out on site, the same day. Prices of Services

We like to be as transparent as possible so we have baseline prices for our services, however, the quickest way to get an accurate quote is to send us photos of the damaged alloy/wheel.

Painted wheels – damage depending.

  • Prices start from £55 per wheel, loose and off the vehicle (up to 18″ alloys), again depending on the size and damage.As your wheel size increases so do the costs e.g 18” wheels £55, 19” £60 etc…
  • Prices start from £60 per wheel if we need to jack up your vehicle and remove the wheels. As your wheel size increases so do the costs e.g 18” wheels £60, 19” £65 etc…
  • Diamond cut/highly polished alloy wheels – These are a little more intricate and therefore are slightly more expensive to repair, yet so much cheaper than actually having them DIAMOND CUT – Prices for this service starts at £80, compared to £120 + vat to have them diamond cut, saving in excess of £40 per wheel! You will not notice the difference!

  • Diamond Cutting work is guaranteed for 6 months from collection
  • Powder Coating work is guaranteed for 12 months from collection


Whilst we take the utmost care, sometimes there can be issues that occur during the refurbishment process for which we cannot be held responsible or liable:

Refurbishing Wheels

  1. We always take the greatest of care when inspecting the damage to your wheels, and when determining the work that needs to be carried out. Sometimes, however, issues only become apparent after we have stripped the wheels for full refurbishment.
  2. Your wheels may need extra work if we find unforeseen issues such as hidden cracks, buckles or extra corrosion We will make you aware of these issues should they occur and will advise you of the extra cost of any work that may be needed. This could also lengthen the time in which your wheels will be completed.

Diamond Cutting

  1. This is a very precise process and takes longer to carry out than a painted refurbishment, although we do not offer this on site, we can outsource this, unfortunately these costs are determined by the Diamond Cutting firm.
  2. We take the greatest care when advising you about diamond-cut wheels as the procedure will change the finish of the wheel and sometimes wheels are not suitable for diamond cutting. This is due to the fact that we cannot be sure how many times the wheel has been previously cut. Diamond cutting alloys can only be carried out a maximum of 3 times per wheel. We make the best judgement and if in our opinion we deem the wheel not suitable for further cutting we will advise you accordingly.
  3. If you choose to just have diamond cut and lacquer it doesn’t include any work on the paint finish. This means that if there is a tar build-up or any imperfections in the paintwork these could be highlighted when the lacquer is applied. We do try our best to clean the wheel during the cleaning process but sometimes we cannot remove the excess build-up. If discolouration does occur we are not liable and you would have to pay an additional price to have a full refurbishment to fix the discolouration.
  4. When a diamond cut wheel has lacquer applied to the surface, any small stone chips will allow water ingress which will cause lifting of the lacquer and in time causes the lacquer to deteriorate and appear cloudy, for this reason, our guarantee for diamond cut alloys is for a period of 6 months only.

Colour matching

  1. We try our best when paint wheels to match your exact colour. However, sometimes wheels will not look exactly the same because a refurbished wheel will look brand new next to the other wheels.
  2. We try where possible to colour match your wheels in your presence so you can agree on the exact colour.
    If it is an unusual colour we recommend you have 2 wheels on the same side refurbished. If you have chosen the colour we are not liable if you are not happy with the finished result.
  3. We stock or can obtain most OEM colours. We endeavour to produce an exact colour match although there may be slight variations. Where wheels are not in OEM colours customers can expect variations in matching of between 10-15%.

Smoke or Tinted lacquer

  1. Please note that the tinted lacquer we use does not always match the tinted lacquer on your existing alloys. If you only give us one alloy to refurbish, whilst we will do our best, we are not liable should this not match up with your existing wheels. We recommend doing a minimum of 2 wheels from the same side of the vehicle.


  1. We do not offer a welding service due to the run-down conditions of our roads and speed bumps, which may cause the weld to open up.


  1. We do not offer this service for straightening buckled alloys. Please note that there is always a chance that a wheel may crack when carrying out this procedure.

Vehicles on site

  1. All wheel locking nut keys for the removal and fitting of wheels should be left visible and accessible to our team. If there is no locking nut available a charge of £12 will be made for each nut that has to be removed.
  2. Any valuables or goods left in your vehicle are left at your own discretion and risk.
  3. We are not responsible for resetting any monitors within your vehicle.
  4. We have 24/7 CCTV for the safety of all vehicles which are left on our premises at your own risk.

Removal of wheels

  1. When refitting your wheels, we will attempt to use your original valves where possible. If replacement valves are needed this would incur an extra cost of £10 per valve. If the valves are rubber ones attached to sensors, sometimes during removal the rubber valve may snap causing an air leak. Should this happen and we have to replace the valve this will also incur an extra cost. If there is any issue with your metal valves and they cannot be refitted, you will need to provide replacements or authorise us to order new ones at an extra cost.
  2. If, when removing your tyres, damage occurs to tyre pressure sensors (TPMS), although we take the greatest of care when removing them, sometimes if they are in a difficult position or have undergone excessive corrosion, they could become damaged on removal. We cannot be held responsible for replacing them. If damage to the TPMS does occur we would not provide a replacement system without informing you of the cost or giving you the option to supply them yourself. If reprogramming of the TPMS is required it is up to the customer to contact their dealership or garage for help in this respect.
  3. We will not refit damaged or dangerous tyres and we are not responsible for any damage that occurs to the tyres unless it has occurred through an incorrect fitting.
  4. When removing your tyres there is a possibility that wheels can be damaged.
  5. Customers are responsible for the disposal of their old tyres unless a fee of £10 per tyre is paid on collection of wheels.

Terms & Conditions

All vehicles must be covered by your personal insurance Whilst left with us at Refurbed Rims.

We do not accept any responsibility for any damages to the valve or TPMS sensors where the valve has become corroded or fused. It is the owner’s responsibility if such a system is in place.

The locking wheel nut must be to hand and accessible while work is being carried out. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that the wheel nuts are free and able to be removed, if this is not the case and our technicians can’t remove the wheel nuts on the day, this will be classified as a cancellation of the booking.

When the Job is complete our technicians will inflate the tyres to the correct pressure however it is the responsibility of the customer to check the pressures post refurbishment and at regular intervals, we are not responsible to reset any systems on your car, this is the customer’s responsibility. Please refer to the vehicle handbook.

Pricing: the price which is agreed at the time of booking is a quote, if the wheels are inspected on the day of repair and are viewed as being in worse condition than quoted the price may be higher, and customers will be informed of this before any additional work is carried out.

Refurbed Rims accepts no responsibility for any poor previous refurbishment, this can often affect the refurbishment process and may not come to light until the process has started, if this is the case and additional work is needed to rectify this will be charged accordingly and in some extreme cases the refurbishment will need to be cancelled as it’s not possible to repair the alloy. e.g cracked rim.

Booking: all bookings require a 25% non-refundable deposit, this is to guarantee your booking and is removed from the final fee.

On the day our technicians will torque your wheel nuts to the manufacturer’s settings when the wheels are re-fitted to your car. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure this is checked at regular intervals post refurbishment.

On the day of your appointment please ensure that you have your locking wheel nut to hand and any tyre shine/ slick is thoroughly washed off before your appointment as this reacts with our paint and can affect the end result

SMART repair stands for ‘Small, Medium Area Repair Technology’. It’s the process of repairing a small area of your alloy to make it look as good as new again, without refurbing the entire alloy.
Powder primed wheels are loaded into a powder coating booth where they are then powder spray them in the colour of choice then oven bake at high temperature, remove them and place on special hangers to cool. Although we do not offer this service, we can outsource this process, unfortunately the cost is determined by the powder coating company.
We remove tyres if required and put the alloys into our acid bath dip for the chemical removal of all dirt, paint and impurities. At this point we can assess any damage, scratches and scuffs that need repairing. Each wheel is then individually shot blasted in one of our blast wash machines. Following that we check for defects and impurities and hand finish the alloy to ensure a smooth finish for powder coating or painting.
This depends entirely on what you want doing and if repairs are needed prior to other refurbishment work.
